Wrapped Up In Books

Sheer evil (200,000 versus 6,000,000)

Stuff like this enrages me. First of all, I was pissed off when the Vatican City issued their problem with Obama reversing the global gag rule on funding international groups advocating the pro-choice stance on abortion (indeed, something I fully stand behind).

Now the pope, who was once in the Hitler Youth, lest we forget, has reinstated four bishops who had previously been deposed from the church.  And one of them is basically a Holocaust denier.  Denier in the sense that he doesn’t believe gas chambers were used to execute the millions of innocent Jews in WWII, and moreover, he doesn’t think the loss of life is nearly on the scale that we know it to be (6 million – we’ll never know an exact figure), but rather places the figure at around the 200 000 mark.  Not to say that isn’t a ghastly number in itself, but it certainly is a slap in the face of people everywhere whose families and friends perished under the Nazi regime, and most disrespectful to the memory of those lost as well.

Any church’s priority should be to spread what it understands to be ‘the good word of Christ and God’, yet the Roman Catholic church keeps doing anything but that.  Maybe if this jerk listens to a reading of the names on Holocaust Memorial Day (tomorrow, actually) he might be able to count past 200,000.
